St Christopher’s is a charity creating brighter futures for children and young people in care. As a leading provider of children's services, we always seek to develop our practice and find new ways of supporting young people.
-
All our services have the same goal: to support children and young people to fulfil their potential, grow into independent adults and have happy, successful futures.
-
There are many ways you can support St Christopher's work with children and young people. Find out how you can help young people reach their goals.
Outreach services
Specialist support services on the Isle of Man
St Christopher’s runs specialist support services on the Isle of Man. By working in the community we can tailor our work to meet exactly what children and young people need.
Sometimes a child or young person may be on the edge of care and need support without the upheaval of being taken into care. St Christopher’s recognised this need on the Isle of Man and, together with the island’s Government, introduced specialist services.
Education services
Our Education team work with young people in our secure care home, children in care and care leavers. Typically these young people are aged 15 to 18 and find mainstream education a challenge. The team find creative ways to engage young people with learning so that they leave our care with qualifications and a plan for the future.
Therapeutic support
The multi-skilled Wraparound team deliver a range of therapeutic interventions to children and young people, whether they are living in St Christopher’s services, with foster carers or with adoptive families. Using a holistic and systemic approach, the team work with the child and their caregivers to ensure their emotional and mental health needs are met.
Community outreach
Our Community Intervention Service works with young people at risk of offending or admission to the secure care home. The team provide family group conferencing, mediation, restorative justice and group work to support young people to make the right choices.
Thanks to continued support from the Isle of Man Government, we continue to expand our outreach provision to benefit even more children and young people.
''Thank you for all you do, you gave me my little boy back that I lost and you seem to understand I am not a bad person, you have helped give his family back. I never ever thought I could feel anything for him or for him to love me again, but you have brought us emotionally back together.''
