-
All our services have the same goal: to support children and young people to fulfil their potential, grow into independent adults and have happy, successful futures.

There are many ways you can support St Christopher's work with children and young people. Find out how you can help young people reach their goals.
Personal Advisor – Isle of Man
About the Role
We are looking for people who want to make a difference to young people’s lives aged 16+ who are leaving care or living independently. There are many young people on the Island that are struggling with a variety of different issues including emotional difficulties, mental health problems, family relations, homelessness and substance abuse.
The role of Personal Advisor is dynamic, busy and flexible, and no one day is ever the same. One day you might be helping someone to budget or look for a job, the next you could be escorting someone to court or resolving a crisis. We also run a drop in service in Douglas from Monday-Friday and operate a 24 hour on-call advice line service.
We encourage staff to exercise their own individuality and creativity and to express their views and opinions. It is a great place to develop and learn new skills and grow in confidence in a variety of social care aspects. The Aftercare team has, and will be developing further, in the future to improve leaving care services on the IOM and we need strong people to help push this vision forward.
Whether you have experience in this sort of work or not, what is important is your potential. If you think you have that, then skills, training and experience can be gained on the job. Once you get through the probationary period you will be able to study for a Diploma level 3 (if you don’t already have it). Some of the best workers we have in St Christopher’s have come from non-social care backgrounds.
Applicants should have
- Willingness to challenge themselves and others, using their initiative
- Ability to motivate young people
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to record, summarise, report, and share information in writing
- Full driving licence
In return we offer
- Salary range between £20,869 to £24,377 per annum
- Full time, permanent position, 40 hours per week
- Industry Leading training programme including access to level 3 qualifications
- Employee Assistance Program and shopping discount
- 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising to 27 days after 3 years’ service
- Fantastic opportunities to develop your career within our range of services
